The Short Answer
Stay on the waterfront around Port Vell, between the Columbus monument and Barceloneta, for the shortest trip to your ship and a walk to the Gothic Quarter. Our pick is the Eurostars Grand Marina, inside the World Trade Center on the harbor, about 10 minutes' walk from the Columbus monument.
For more character, stay a few streets back in the lower Gothic Quarter or on lower La Rambla; the Duquesa de Cardona and Catalonia Port are good mid-range choices with pools. For families, the Catalonia Port, Oriente Atiram and H10 Port Vell all have rooms for three or more. If you have a full day before boarding, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter or El Born, which are still close to the port.

Tips for Cruise Passengers
- Don't plan to walk to the Adossat terminals. They are well out along the breakwater, and the port points passengers to the shuttle. Drop-off is allowed at the terminals, but parking is not.
- Watch your bags. Thieves target travelers with luggage and those distracted by maps, especially on La Rambla and around the Columbus monument. Keep bags close and phones off café tables.
- Ask about luggage storage. Many hotels will store bags after check-out, which lets you sightsee before an afternoon boarding.
- Use official taxis. Barcelona's official taxis are black and yellow; take one from a rank or ask your hotel to call one.
Getting to the Port from the Airport
- Taxi: about 20–30 minutes from Terminal 1 to the Columbus monument, depending on traffic. Ranks are outside arrivals at both terminals.
- Aerobús: to Plaça de Catalunya in about 35 minutes, then metro L3 to Drassanes or a 20-minute walk down La Rambla to the Columbus monument.
- Metro L9 Sud: from both terminals, with changes to reach the center. You need an Airport ticket or a Hola Barcelona card; the T-casual is not valid to or from the airport.
